Why use our Pods?
Being an Alpaca breeder the Welfare of our animals is paramount so the pods are designed and manufactured by ourselves taking this into account. We designed the Alpaca pods for our own herd and are now pleased to offer these for sale.
Below are several points we considered whilst designing the Pods.
All of our Pods are exclusively designed and manufactured by Sandhills Alpacas. Our pod designs are now protected and the UK Design Numbers are as follows; 6031339, 6031340, 6031342.
Hubandry
They make a great area for carrying out your husbandry tasks such as feet trimming, vitamin drenches etc. we just place a hurdle at the entrance or make a catch pen in front of the pod. They can also be used as holding pens for quarantine areas.
Flies
They make a great shelter’s in summer against the heat and offers a shelter against the flies. Our dark coloured Alpaca’s particularly use the shelters when the flies are out.
Weather
They are designed with adverse weather in mind, place Hurricane screws at the corner of the Pods and this will ensure the pods don’t twist or move. If extreme storms are forecast you can place straps over the pods, fastened to the Hurricane screws.
Ventilation
To prevent cases of pneumonia, ventilation is a very important factor for consideration, the pod is design with gaps all around the frame to give the alpacas enough ventilation even whilst in the cush position.
Adaptable
Easily adaptable you can add water corner drinkers and feeding troughs keeping them off the floor adding to good biosecurity measures for your alpaca herd. By placing two rubber mats on the floor you can deep bed the Alpaca pods in winter making a great dry bedding area for them to enjoy.
They can be moved to another area in a paddock or dismantled to erect somewhere further away.

The Alpacas Pods are practical and attractive. We have supplied several Alpaca Pods within the National Parks and areas of conservation.

Adverse Weather Kits
Due to the constant weather changes we always recommend that you place Hurricane screws at corners of the pods and strap over the pods.
We stock hurricane anchor screw which can be added as an optional extra.
These are screwed into the ground with the aid of the anchor driver and the pods are strapped to the anchors.
