Please Note : All of our Pods are exclusively designed and manufactured by Sandhills Alpacas. Our pod designs are now protected and the UK Design  Numbers are as follows;  6031339, 6031340, 6031342.

Why use our Pods ?
Being an Alpaca breeder the Welfare of our animals is paramount so the pods are designed and manufactured by ourselves taking this into account. We designed the Alpaca pods for our own herd and are now pleased to offer these for sale.
Below are several points we considered whilst designing the Pods.

Husbandry: They make a great area for carrying out your husbandry tasks such as feet trimming, vitamin drenches etc. we just place a hurdle at the entrance or make a catch pen in front of the pod. They can also be used as holding pens for quarantine areas.

Flies: They make a great shelter’s in summer against the heat and offers a shelter against the flies. Our dark coloured Alpaca’s particularly use the shelters when the flies are out.

Weather: They are design with adverse weather in mind, just place a field post at the corner of the prevailing wind and this will ensure the pods don’t twist or move.

Ventilation: In the prevention of pneumonia ventilation is a very important factor for consideration, the pod is design with gaps all around the frame to give the alpacas enough ventilation even whilst in the cush position.

Adaptably: Easily adaptable you can add water corner drinkers and feeding troughs keeping them off the floor adding to good biosecurity measures for your alpaca herd. By placing two rubber mats on the floor you can deep bed the Alpaca pods in winter making a great dry bedding area for them to enjoy.
They can be moved to another area in a paddock or dismantled to erect somewhere further away.

Appearance: The Alpacas Pods are practical and attractive. We have supplied several Alpaca Pods within the National Parks and areas of conservation.

Size: We have found that always feeding the alpacas in the pod they soon learn it is a nice place to be and comfortably house up to six alpacas.

“My boys have the alpaca pod, they all love it, they sleep in it at night, always run in from the rain and cool down in it in the hot weather, and surprisingly very few flies in there and mine sits under the canopy of trees I’m sure if my boys were to rate it they’d give it 5 * well worth the investment.”

“Hi Paul and Maggie,

Thanks for your visit to complete installation of our 3 x Alpacas pods.  Both the sheep and alpacas have really taken to them and have already been spotted running for cover in heavy rain showers.  It was a pleasure dealing with you;  you kept to the timeframe we arranged at the start, and kept us informed at all stages of the process.

Best wishes,”

“Hi Paul and Maggie

From the word the moment we contacted Paul and Maggie about their alpaca pods we knew we were in good hands. They were so helpful and quick to answer any questions we had and kept us up to date on a regular basis on the progress of the order. The pods were delivered on time and we were given updates on their journey so that we knew exactly what time to expect them. It was great to finally meet them in person and they wasted no time in getting the pods assembled in our paddock which took less than a couple of hours. The pods look absolutely amazing and we can’t wait to collect our alpacas now. Paul and Maggie were so friendly and easy to talk to and even took the time to look around our paddock to see if we had any wild flowers that might be harmful to alpacas. Being new to keeping alpacas, they offered us loads of general advice and were more than happy for us to keep in touch if we needed to know anything more…we will definitely be doing this.

Thanks Paul and Maggie”

Hi Maggie

I just wanted to say how pleased we are with our Alpaca Pod.  It looks so smart, sturdy and is lovely and warm! It is perfect for our alpacas. We’ve moved three of the boys into that paddock now and it took them a week or so to venture inside but they are now happily munching on their haynet which is hanging up in there.

Many thanks again for your prompt service and very efficient installation on the day.

Kind regards

Michelle
